Baba Farid is called Fariduddin because Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Attar who is a Wali Allah gave his lakab to Baba Farid. There are two famous incident of Baba Farid that's why they are called Ganj Shakar. They are as follows. One day a man was carrying a Sugar, Baba Farid said that give me a little sugar too, then that man Said that it is not sugar, it is salt, so Baba Farid said, then it will have salt in it. When that man started going, he saw that all the sugar he had was full of salt So that man apologized to Baba Farid Then Baba Farid Prayed and Salt again converted in sugar.
One day it was raining heavily in Delhi, Baba Farid came out of his Pir's house, you had not eaten anything for 7 days, so during walking, your foot slipped and a little mud go in your mouth and then that became Sugar. Baba Farid told this to his pir Hazrat Qutubuddin, then your Pir said that ,"Allah has made your existence a sugar" after this Baba Farid go wherever people call them by Shaikh Fariduddin Masood Ganj Shakar, your father left world at the childhood of Baba Farid, you received your Ibdtai talim from your home and at the age of 12 you Hifaz the Quran and then at the age of 15 you took Mother's Permission to go to Multan. After going to Multan, you red a famous book called Naafia from Maulana Minhaj Tirimiji.
After this, you started receiving the day's ilm, Baba Farid continued to get his ilm from his Pir Hazrat Qutubuddin Bakhtiar Kaki for 5 years, after this you were 20 years old, then you went to Delhi, you started worshiping with the Ibadat of Allah, He used to have a lot of love with Allah Pak, he says that I had been standing in the prayer of Allah for 20 years at the same place, I had neither eaten nor drink anything.You tell that my feet were completely turgid and bleed. Baba Farid, had marriages 3 times his wife was Bibi Aziza , which is the daughter of Sultan Gayasuddin Balban. You got married second wife Bibi Kulsoom and third marriage with Bibi Shadira. That you had five sons and three daughters, After Baba Farid, your son Shaikh Badruddin became your Janasheen, Baba Farid has more than 50,000 Khalifa, Shaikh Nizamuddin Auliya is also your One of the Khalifa.Baba Farid left the world just repeating Ya Hayyu Ya Kayyum on , 5 Muharram 670 or 664 Hijri.
